Sandy is a family task assistant that helps parents coordinate schedules, appointments, and activities. Sandy is accessible through multiple channels including email and web. This page documents how Sandy collects explicit, standalone consent before sending any SMS text messages to users who choose to interact via the text messaging channel.
Sandy offers two ways for users to opt in to SMS text messaging, both of which collect standalone, explicit consent dedicated solely to messaging:
Users can opt in via the sign-up form on Sandy's website. The form collects the user's phone number and first name, and includes a standalone consent checkbox with clear disclosure of message types, frequency, data rates, and opt-out instructions. After submitting, Sandy sends a confirmation text to verify the phone number.
For users who choose to text Sandy directly, Sandy uses a standalone SMS opt-in exchange that is completely separate from any terms of service, account agreement, or other consent mechanism. Messaging consent is never bundled with any other agreement.
SMS messaging begins only when a user chooses to text Sandy's phone number. Sandy never sends the first message to any user.
Before doing anything else, Sandy responds with a clear consent disclosure dedicated solely to SMS messaging. The user must actively confirm.
The user must reply YES (or another opt-in keyword) to confirm their consent. This is a separate, affirmative action dedicated solely to SMS messaging consent.
Only after receiving explicit opt-in does Sandy begin sending text messages.
Users can opt out of SMS messaging at any time by replying with any of the following keywords:
Sandy immediately confirms the opt-out and ceases all text messaging. Opting out of SMS does not affect the user's access to Sandy via email or web.
Users can reply HELP at any time to receive support information:
For users who have opted in to SMS, Sandy sends the following types of text messages: task confirmations and updates (e.g., appointment booked), appointment reminders, schedule coordination with family members and service providers, and proactive scheduling suggestions. Message frequency varies based on family activity, typically 2–10 messages per week.
SMS consent is collected via a standalone exchange, completely separate from any terms of service or account agreement. Users must take an explicit, affirmative action (replying YES) dedicated solely to messaging consent. No messages beyond the initial consent disclosure are sent before opt-in is confirmed. Users can opt out of SMS at any time with immediate effect, without losing access to Sandy's other channels. Sandy never shares phone numbers with third parties for messaging purposes. SMS messaging is not required to use Sandy.
